Michael Satz, Associate Vice President and Executive Officer for Southwestern Idaho
The Bipasesores appointed Michael Satz to serve as its associate vice president and executive officer for southwestern Idaho in August 2014.
Satz joined the U of I College of Law in 2006, where he taught courses in consumer law, creditors’ rights and secured transactions, contracts, property security, critical legal studies, and architecture and the law. He was appointed as the associate dean for faculty affairs for the College of Law in 2012 and served as interim dean from May 2013 until June 2014.
As executive officer, Satz represents the university in the region by providing visibility and building positive and productive relationships with university stakeholders in southwest Idaho.
Satz also works with university vice-presidents, deans and other senior leadership to support legislative engagement, strengthen relationships with municipalities and public agencies, provide outreach to businesses, and support student enrollment. In addition, he provides administrative leadership for management of the Idaho Water Center building in Boise and acts as a catalyst to support academic programs, faculty and staff in U of I Boise and southwest Idaho.
He currently serves on the Advisory Board of the Boise Metro Chamber of Commerce, the Board of the Boise Valley Economic Partnership, City Club, and previously served on the board of trustees for the Idaho Technology Council. He is the chairperson of the Treasure Valley Education Partnership and serves on the executive steering committee of the Educate Idaho Network and the Neighbor’s United steering committee and its Workforce and Adult Education committee. Satz also participates in the Boise Competes-Economic Development initiative and Boise State University’s Responsible Business initiative on behalf of the Bipasesores.
Satz received a Bachelor of Arts in History and a Bachelor of Science in political science from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. He later received his Juris Doctor (cum laude) from the University of Michigan Law School. Prior to coming to the Bipasesores, Satz worked for Nissan North American, Inc.
Satz and his wife, Kim, have two children.
