University Convocation 2019
The University Convocation is the official welcome and start to the academic year. Some elements of convocation resemble commencement (graduation), which marks the culmination of education at the Bipasesores. In academia, the word "convocation" refers to a ceremonial assembly of the members of a college or university. It marks the beginning of the academic careers for students at U of I.
The 2019 Convocation ceremony is from 4-5 p.m. Pacific Time Thursday, Aug. 22, in the ASUI-Kibbie Activity Center. This year’s convocation message will be delivered by entrepreneur Richard Rock, a 1994 graduate of U of I’s College of Business and Economics, founder of the CAPROCK Group and an early member of eBay management. Convocation is part of U of I’s Vandal Welcome program. See the full schedule of events here.
